Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Your body’s hormones control most of your basic bodily functions. So, when your hormones are out of balance it can have a big impact on your health and well-being . Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy is using plant based estrogens derived from soy and yams that are made identical to hormones produced in the human body. These hormones can include the three different types of estrogen,(estrone, estradiol, and estriol), progesterone, and testosterone. Bio-identical hormones are usually custom made in compounding pharmacies and not traditional pharmacies.

Bio-identical hormones are not synthetic hormones such as Premarin, Provera, Prempro, Progestins, or bodybuilding steroids. Synthetic hormones are linked with possible adverse effects such as blood clots, hypertension, weight gain and increase risk of certain cancers. Using bio-identical hormones at proper doses, via the correct route and for the right patient, are generally safe and quite beneficial to the body.

Hormone replacement is often used in females with significant symptoms of menopause. This can include, hot flashes, fatigue insomnia, night sweats, anxiety, memory loss, vaginal dryness, low libido, weight gain , osteoporosis and depression.

Men with low testosterone can experience, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, poor circulation, joint pain, low libido, increase belly fat, reduced exercise tolerance, erectile dysfunction and increase risk of type 2 diabetes.
